Featured Artist: Atomic Hercules

 Atomic Hercules aka Hercules Wolftrap aka Banana Spartacus  is a paste up artist whose work can be found around the world and is a regular sight in Leake Street, Shoreditch, Brick Lane, Hackney Road etc alongside many other paste-ups and street art. Using combinations of popular recognisable images (Snails appear to be a regular feature and postage stamps too) the art produced is playful at times but sometimes makes you think about the deeper meaning- a snail on a tube map cant be a coincidence lol
Preferring to answer in written text rather than doing a video interview I've cut and pasted the responses to the questions below.....hope you enjoy......

Question 1: As a paste Up artist your work is seen by many people going about their daily business- in that context do you think art can change the world and if so in what way?

Changing the entire world is different then changing my world or my local world. I think it’s import to change local. Act local, Think Global. Spread love and joy. Smiles are the easiest. Be generous and help those in need. The smallest things can make the biggest difference to some one. 

Question 2: What or who inspired you or influenced your style?

The thing that inspires me is people, their stories and what they create. Discovering something new or something forgotten. Looking at it from a different perspective. 

Dreams are also a crazy place for new idea.

Question 3: What advice do you have for new artists? What advice do you wish you were given? Was there advice that you were given that you wish you'd listened to?

New artists need to be open and don’t fear criticism,  be proud in what you’ve created. And just make stuff, make those small or large ideas cause they will lead to other ideas and passions.

I just wish I started my art earlier in life but then again Im not the same person I was then and I like who I am today. 

Question 4: What are your plans for the future? Do you have any plans you can share with us? 

I had a dream last night where I was FaceTiming with Obama, he was praising my snail art. But he said I need to do something for the children. I woke up with the idea of making a snail board game. So now I need/want to do this....
