Featured Artist: Pol Cosmo

So next up is Pol Cosmo a Street Artist from Ghent in Belgium who has a strange obsession for bugs ........ I sent Pol the questions and here's the responses   Q1. As a paste up artist your work is seen by many people going about their daily business. In that context do you think art can change the world and if so in what way? It would be a bit pretentious to claim that my art changes the world, no?     However, it makes people smile, if I may believe the mails I receive.  Initially that was exactly what I was aiming for: surprise people in a positive way.  Many of us are rushing through our lives, racing from home to school with the kids, making sure we get to work in time, running to the shop before it closes, …  If my little insects can stop that race, even if it is only for a few seconds… and it makes you smile, even if it’s only for a few seconds…  then my mission is accomplished.  On another level, more ecological, I notice it ma...

Featured artist: Tesla

The next interview in the series is with Tesla, another contributing artist in the Inaugural Instagram Paste Up Biennial in Broken Hill Australia. A commentary on the world ....whether its politics or just mankinds attitude to the world a paste up can say a thousand words...........   Q1: Who are you, what do you do and where are you based?   It is paradoxical to ask someone who hides behind a name who he is, so I will only say that I am Tesla;   under that name there are some ideals squeezed out of the social context, of dialectical materialism, and mixed with painting.   I am dedicated to subversive art, rescuing people from Plato's cave, becoming a person of integrity and showing a lie that brings us closer to the truth.   I do not have a fixed location, I am anywhere.     Q2: As a paste up artist your work is seen by many people going about their daily business; in that context do you feel that art can change the world?   First of all, I don't...

Featured Artist: Atomic Hercules

Image
Atomic Hercules aka Hercules Wolftrap aka Banana Spartacus  is a paste up artist whose work can be found around the world and is a regular sight in Leake Street, Shoreditch, Brick Lane, Hackney Road etc alongside many other paste-ups and street art. Using combinations of popular recognisable images (Snails appear to be a regular feature and postage stamps too) the art produced is playful at times but sometimes makes you think about the deeper meaning- a snail on a tube map cant be a coincidence lol Preferring to answer in written text rather than doing a video interview I've cut and pasted the responses to the questions below.....hope you enjoy...... Question 1: As a paste Up artist your work is seen by many people going about their daily business- in that context do you think art can change the world and if so in what way? Changing the entire world is different then changing my world or my local world. I think it’s import to change local. Act local, Think Global. Spread lov...

The Inaugural Instagram International Paste-UP Biennial

Image
This blog was a result of a conversation with a man who decided to start an international event to celebrate the work of paste up artists from across the world. Artist and creative 2020pws contacted me originally to ask if I would interview artists on my YouTube channel and I accepted the challenge. Over on my YouTube channel I interviewed a couple of artists however I was also finding that some of the artists didn't want to be interviewed or rather didn't want to appear on film.  So I decided I would offer an alternative to film in the form of a blog so here it is.......  As a paste up artist myself I feel honoured to be part of this and being able to interview artists who are involved. So I have created this blog so that the artists who don't want to appear on the YouTube channel have an opportunity to join in and answer some questions to allow people to have an insight into them and their art.  With so many great artists involved in this project i am looking forw...
